People often get an idea of what they think project management is.  Most think you are on a job site somewhere making sure every piece of a project or product is coming together. Others think of sitting in front of a computer all day updating schedule and deliverable dates.  Although there is truth to these two schools of thought, you’re not quite to the core yet.

Project management really is about managing the relationships between team members and clients.  Often times on a project, you are pulling people together from completely different areas of expertise and away from their normal work flow.  In these situations, management really becomes and art form.  Understanding the way your team members communicate, keeping schedules, regulating budgets, communicating properly with the client, and pulling all of the resources together to integrate a seamless project, means having someone at the helm that understands the subtleties of relationship management.
