with the 25th pick, the marketing department selects…

Don’t believe for a second that sports are just about the actual sport itself.  Some leagues are more popular then others and football is the biggest in the United States.  April 22nd was the first round of the draft and marketing departments for teams salivated with the potential of bringing in big named college athletes to their program.  Will these individuals actually help their respective teams win on the field?  That remains to be seen, but one team has already won in the eyes of this Denver fan.

With the 25th pick, the Denver Broncos moved up to snag Tim Tebow.  Do I believe that Tim is the end all be all to the team and will lead Denver out of mediocrity?  Not quite yet, but it sure has given us die hard blue and orange fans something to actually cheer about.

Tebow has just about every quality you would want in a quarterback.  He is a proven leader, he works harder then anyone else, and he is a stand-up individual, (the hope is you move away from a habitual screw up like Roethlisberger).  Can he make the transition to the NFL?  No one really knows, but I know that the marketing department for the Denver Broncos were the big winner in the draft.

How you market yourself and your product is key to the success of your organization.  You need a campaign that showcases the quality of the work and the dedication of your people.  We have been talking a lot about the changes we are seeing with social media, and the rise of Skynet, (Facebook).  Organizations are going to tell you that they can learn all about an individual through social media and create content to put in front of their faces.  They will tell you, “we have found an easy way to get your in front of your audience, just pay us a load of cash and we will plop an add.”  The problem with this theory is that there really is no easy way to reach out and engage your audience.  True campaigns come from hard work and research.  The real winners in the market place are those who set the trend and work hard to earn their business, even if it is the hard decision.

Take a page out of the Denver Bronco playbook.  Go make the tough decision and work hard to make it the best one.  If you win, you win big.
