how to reach your target market

One of the first questions our clients ask us is, “How do we reach our target market?”  There is not a simple answer that applies to all organizations, but there are things you can do that will help you identify and reach your target market. Here are just three brief points to get you thinking about your target market:

1)  What does your company offer? Take a look at your company and identify what products and/or services you offer.  Be specific.  If you have many products and services break them down into categories so you can really see what your business is all about.

2) Who is your ideal customer? Again, be specific.  If you are a small spa in downtown Portland your market might be women ages 25-45 who have incomes over $75,000 a year.  You can even be more specific with your ideal customer by identifying where they live, where they shop, what they do for fun, etc.  Our team specializes in market research and we are happy to help you identify your ideal customer.

3)  What is your niche? You can’t offer everything to everyone, so don’t try.  Look at what industry your business would best serve and target companies within that industry.
