Project Management Tools
Managing a project once the project is well underway is tough enough. Laying out a project schedule that forecasts deadlines, milestones, tasks, and checklists six months into the future feels nearly impossible. But the challenge of building a project schedule that is realistic, flexible, and understandable both to your team as well as your client is well worth the time and headache. When you bottom line depends on how well you can adhere to a schedule it is critical that you develop a system that forces your team and your client to stay on task and to produce materials efficiently and on time. The better you are about setting your project schedule up-front, the more clients you can take on and the better you can serve your current clients.
We looked at several different project management tools and software and ended up using ActiveCollab because of its many useful project management and collaborative tools. So far ActiveCollab has proven to be an effective way for our team to organize and manage projects by setting milestones, adding checklists, and assigning tasks to team members and to our clients. Our clients are happy with their ability to see the progression of the project as well as to see what assignments or tasks are coming up on their end in the coming weeks or months. If you are looking for project management software and want to pay a one-time fee vs. a monthly fee with project management software like Basecamp, I would suggest exploring ActiveCollab. If you have questions, please feel free to leave a comment and we can share more of our ActiveCollab experiences with you.
